Lea Salonga couldn’t express her joy upon hearing the news that ABS-CBN and TV5 entered into a partnership. The singer, after seeing the musical variety show of the Kapamilya network on the Kapatid channel was overjoyed.
ASAP Natin ‘To was seen on TV5 on Sunday, January 24, for the first time, it is a testimony that a deal between two networks is possible.
During a media conference via Zoom on Monday, Salonga is still in shock about what occurred.
“It’s kind of unprecedented. How do I feel about it? I feel overjoyed that ‘ASAP’ gets to air, like actually goes on air again. People will have access to it. Those who don’t have access to online platforms and streaming will get to see it again on the air,” said the international singer-Broadway star.
The singer continued saying that being in this kind of industry, where everyone competes, it is a ‘surprise’ to see two Networks who were rivals managed to enter an alliance to reach a wider audience. She also said that it is a generous thing to do on the part of TV5 to provide the longest-running musical variety show of ABS-CBN a timeslot in their channel.
“We all know this. Everybody competes with everybody. But for this to happen, I still couldn’t believe it. I still can’t believe that it actually happened, never mind that there’s so much evidence online, never mind that there’s so many stars of ‘ASAP’ who were sharing this bit of news on social media, never mind that I was reading the articles. It’s like oh my gosh, I think it’s unprecedented but incredibly generous and so wonderful,” Salonga continued.
As a sign of good gesture, the Salonga thanked both Networks for providing each other the help they needed during these trying times.
“Thanks to TV5 for allowing this to happen. Thanks to ABS-CBN also for hanging in there and just holding on. There are multiple tunnels. I think we are all starting to see light at the end of some of that. It gives me hope. It quells my heart seeing that there are good folks out there that are willing and wanting to help. I am very grateful.”
Since Sunday, the ASAP Natin ‘To will be viewed onwards at its usual time via TV5 and can be viewed simultaneously on A2Z. Besides free TV, it is also available for viewing on the Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, iWantTFC, and TFC.
