‘Born To Be A Star’ returns on TV5

Back in 2016, Viva Entertainment partnered with TV5 for a reality-singing competition where amazing voices gathered to prove themselves worthy to be called “BORN TO BE A STAR”. This show gave birth to the singing career of Janine Teñoso who is now hailed as the OST Princess.

This January, “Born To Be A Star” returns to open up a new opportunity for talented individuals who want a shot at stardom. At this time when disheartening things happen left and right, making life even more challenging than usual, Viva sees the need to revive this show, in cooperation with TV5, Sari-Sari and Cignal, to remind everyone to keep reaching for their dreams no matter the circumstance.

“Born To Be A Star” will be hosted by Jowable breakthrough artist and singer, Kim Molina, and talented actor-singer-host-endorser Matteo Guidicelli. The two have just worked together as judge detectives in Masked Singer Pilipinas which had its grand finale last December 2020.

The show will follow the journey of the contestants starting from audition where they are screened by Star Judges. Joining Janine Teñoso as a Star Judge is Teacher G (Georcelly Sy), the artistic director and choreographer who is well loved and respected by the country’s biggest performers. Rap icon and singer-songwriter Andrew E, who was among the judges 5 years ago, is back to do the job once more. The other two Star Judges are singer-actor Sam Concepcion, and Katrina Velarde, the “Suklay Diva” who wowed everyone in Masked Singer Pilipinas as Diwata.

Only 18 from the 40 successful auditionees will move on to boot camp where they will be trained by Star Mentors who are experts in performing, songwriting, and composing: Thyro, Wency Cornejo, and Mark Bautista. Star Judge Teacher G also mentors in the aspect of movement and stage presence.

Once the singing battle begins, elimination is not far behind. But the show will see to it that no one will leave the competition without bringing home new learnings that will empower them. While the ultimate goal is to find that one exceptional artist to win the title “Born To Be A Star”, the process of doing so will give each contestant a moment to own that stage, show all that they’ve got, and share their story why they are a star in their own right in their family, workplace, or community.

The grand champion will be awarded with One Million Pesos in cash and a recording and management contract under Viva, the undisputed star maker since 1981.

Home to the country’s favorite stars throughout different generations, Viva continues to hone raw talents, guide them to improve their personality, and give them opportunities to grow into the shining star they are meant to be.

“Born To Be A Star” premieres on January 30, 2021, Saturday, at 7 PM on TV5.
