Award-winning actress Cristine Reyes had a history of being mean to her co-workers, especially with her onscreen partners. But this time, everyone was shocked to know that she is trying to be nicer.
During the media conference of the Filipino remake of the hit K-drama series, Encounter, the main cast Cristine Reyes and Diego Loyzaga played a game in which they were asked what is their ‘first’ with each other.
Reyes surprised everyone by answering that her co-actor, Loyzaga is the first onscreen partner that she’s being nice with.
“You’re (Diego) my first onscreen partner that I’m very nice,” answered Christine.
“I’m very maldita (on other onscreen partners).”
Even the series’ director, Direk Jeffrey Jeturian was amazed at the actress’s transformation. Jeturian had doubts after he knew that he will be working with Reyes.
“Si Cristine I’ve worked with her before and na-experience ko yung type na maldita pa siya. Kaya na-surprise ako dito ngayon na ibang-iba yung Cristine na nakatrabaho ko. In fact, nung nalaman ko na si Cristine ang makakatrabaho ko, medyo nagkaron ako ng duda, kasi parang mamomroblema yata ako,” said Jeturian.
“Pero nothing of that sort happened. I am surprised nga na si Cristine is more mature now and more considerate of her co-workers at mas professional,” he added.
But what made her change? According to the actress, the reason is that she has grown to understand life better.
“I think it comes with life. I used to be a brat. Now I think I’ve grown. So, I appreciate what I have right now, I’m grateful for what I have. I don’t want to put [a] burden [on] anybody I’m working with,” she explained.
“It’s not about them, it’s about personal growth.”
Furthermore, she realized that it’s time to be better as a person.
“As I’ve said, it’s more on being you know, good, as a person, we grow. And you have to learn to always be better and don’t be stuck to where you were. If it’s not good, why would you stay there?” she said.
But she admitted that her change is still a work-in-progress.
Nevertheless, Reyes is proud that she’s able to make that jump and that she will continue working on it.
It’s always a progress. I’m not saying I’m always gonna be like this. But it’s a progress na I’m working on,” Reyes added.
In the series which will be coming to TV5, Reyes will be playing Celine, the CEO of Hotel d’ Trevi Hotel, who just got out of a toxic marriage, gets to know Gino played by Loyzaga, who makes her believe in love again.
However, there is a catch—their age gap and other conflicts along with their pursuit of love.
