Despite all of the controversies thrown against film director Darryl Yap, Rosanna Roces affirms that he is a good person.
According to the actress, she knows that Darryl is not rude or ill-mannered because his parents themselves have attested that he is a good son.
“Unang-una kasi, malalaman mong mabuting tao ‘yan, galing sa bibig mismo ng mga magulang niya, na napakabait na anak ni Direk Darryl. Hindi siya ganu’n kabastos. Kagaya lang din natin. Naku, mas bastos pa nga tayo sa showbiz eh,” she said.
She applauds Darryl for having the heart for his family. He even built a house for them when he started earning.
“Ang isang hinangaan ko diyan, nu’ng nagka-pera siya talagang pinagawa niya ‘yung bahay nila sa Olongapo,” she said.
Osang also shared that according to Darryl’s parents, since he was young, they already discovered his passion for writing that is why they pushed him to venture into Manila and find his future.
“Tinatanong ko din ang magulang niya kung ano rin ang ugali nito. Bata pa daw ‘yan, sa school talagang hindi na siya mahilig magsulat. Matalino talaga. Pumapasa kahit hindi nagsusulat. So, sabi niya, ‘Anak, hindi ka para dito sa Olongapo. Bumaba ka ng Maynila. Doon mo hanapin yung future mo.’”
Darryl’s stories continue to make a buzz online and his name is slowly being prominent in the film industry. Despite all of this, he did not leave his former team and continues to remain humble.
“Makikita mo na pag punta niya sa Maynila kasama nu’ng mga pangarap niya, hindi niya iniwan ’tong grupo niya sa Olongapo which is ‘yung Sa Wakas Theater Group (production staff ng Vincentiments). Through thick and thin daw ay hindi pinabayaan ni Direk Darryl ang kanyang mga anak-anakan sa teatro,” Roces said.
As he rises to prominence, there are controversies being thrown against him.
Recently, the poster of his movie “Tililing” earned flak from netizens because of its poster that seems to be degrading for people with mental health issues.
Frankie Pangilinan has also shown disapproval about her mother, Sharon Cuneta’s project with Darryl. She is dismayed thinking that she cannot control the decisions of her family members.
Darryl has also been tagged as a pedophile as some of his malicious tweets circulated online.
Despite these, Darryl continues with his passion and building up his name in the showbiz industry. On April 9, he released his newest movie entitled, “KUNG PWEDE LANG” which was based on his viral online rant series, “Vincentiments”.
