Philippines’ representative in the recently concluded Miss Universe 2020 beauty pageant, Rabiya Mateo shared a witty remark on Instagram three days after she lost.

In the Ilongga’s recent Instagram post, she shared a picture of her Miss Universe team with the witty caption: “Lotlot and friends” along with a peace sign emoji.

Her caption is colloquially used by Filipinos when they lose a fight or a game. The term “Lotlot and friends” is referred to Lotlot de Leon‘s 1988 television show on RPN 9.

Netizens found Mateo’s caption to be funny as they commended how she accepted her defeat.

The Miss Universe 2020 coronation night, held on Sunday, May 16 (Monday, May 17 in the Philippines), with Mexico’s Andrea Meza as the newly-crowned queen. Mateo only managed to enter the Top 21.

“My Miss Universe journey has ended. I just finished one beautiful chapter. Now, I’m excited to write a new one. More blessings to receive! More people to inspire!” she wrote.

Meanwhile, Rabiya’s fellow beauty queens and celebrities poured their support and admiration to her despite not bringing home the crown.

Miss Universes Pia Wurtzbach (2015) and Catriona Gray (2018) said they are still proud of Mateo.

Despite Mateo’s early exit from the competition after she didn’t make it to the next cut–the Top 10 semi-finalists, she still maintained the Philippines’ placement streak in Miss Universe for 11 years now.
