Kapuso primetime newscast ’24 Oras’ continues to lead the ratings chart, while GMA Network’s afternoon teen romantic drama ‘You’re My Favorite Star’ (YMFS) has closed its curtains after a run marked by modest television ratings.
The Kapuso series wrapped up its run on Friday, July 31, with its finale episode posting a 4.4 percent rating. While the figure was enough to place the series at number 9 on the overall ratings board that day, it remained a relatively modest performance compared with the ratings once enjoyed by GMA Network’s afternoon programming during its stronger years.
The finale’s performance also highlights the continuing changes in the Philippine television landscape, as audiences increasingly divide their viewing time between traditional free-to-air television, online platforms, and digital streaming services.
However, despite its modest ratings performance, YMFS still concluded Angel’s story on a ‘happily ever after’.
The finale saw Angel finally find the family she had long been searching for, following the revelation that she is actually Celestine Montaverde, the long-lost daughter of Enrico. Meanwhile, Serina’s schemes finally came to an end as her various attempts to manipulate and hurt Angel and her loved ones ultimately failed.
The series also delivered an emotional moment between Angel and Miguel, with Miguel singing one last song for Angel before she leaves for abroad, the song that carried special meaning for both of them.
Meanwhile, GMA Network’s flagship news program ’24 Oras’ remains unbeatable in the number 1 position on the overall ratings board.
The Mel Tiangco-led newscast registered a rating of 11.1 percent, 0.2 percent higher than fellow Kapuso second placer Master Cutter which scored 10.9 percent.
’24 Oras’ has been on top since May 2026 following the exit of ‘Sang’gre’ in the primetime ratings race.
