Singer-songwriter CJ Navato releases his new single, In My Imagination, about his mature take on love and relationship. Still, aside from the new song, CJ shared that he is more mature now than before.
Putting a lot of emotions in his music is one of the signs of his maturity; he shared that, “it is a challenge, every emotion is a challenge, figuring out kung anong emotion na ‘yon ay challenge pero kapag na-figure out mo parang nailathala mo na rin kung anong nararamdaman mo sa buhay.”
When asked when did he realize that he can compose a song that he can sing:
“Mommy ko po kasi ‘yong nag-ano sa akin na kumanta, I think as early as 4 or 5 years old kumakanta na raw po ako ng Backstreet Boys. Nag-star circle, kumakanta pa rin. Pero noong nagsulat po ako I think I was around 17 years old noong I was under the tutelage of Sir Froilan Canlas nagkaroon siya ng song-writing workshop and then nag-attend po ako noon, I was able to write one song it was called, “Better Man,” hindi ko na siya pinapakinggan ngayon kasi parang sobrang hilaw pa talaga ‘yong CJ Navato na ‘yon… I was 17 years old pero naramdaman ko po na there wasn’t depth in the things I was writing… siguro kasi may mga unresolved issues ako sa life noon ang kulang pa sa maturity, kulang pa sa understanding on what love is or what life is,” CJ answered in a virtual media conference of Ivory Music & Video.
With his latest single, Navato also opened up how he embraced Ivory Music & Video’s opportunity.
“Noong binigyan ako ng chance ng Ivory to make music doon ko na-feel na kapag pinush ko pala ang sarili ko, if I really put my heart into it, doon pala kaya mo pala talagang sumulat,” explained by CJ.
