September 28, 2021, when the GMA Network launches a new music podcast, “Behind The Song” hosted by The Clash finalist Thea Astley.
Kapuso artist Thea Astley is very grateful to be chosen as the host of the podcast.
She said in an interview that she is thankful to the GMA Network and the GMA Artist Center for giving her this project.
“I’m not entirely sure din po kung ano ‘yung naging process ng pagpili sa’kin. But I think, baka po nagstart siya when I started hosting some online events for GMA.”
“I’m very fortunate enough that they put their trust in me. That GMA network and GMA artist center believed in me and my capabilities,” she added.
Thea also explained in the said interview what the Behind The Song podcast is all about.
Basically, each episode of the said podcast will feature artists. They will talk about the story behind each song and the whole music production process.
She said, “The explanation is in the name. We are featuring a song for each episode and we’re basically asking the artists, the composer, the song producer, and everyone else who’s part of creating the song.”
As an artist, Thea believes that it is important that the audience knows every story and trivia behind the songs she makes.
They wanted to show through this podcast what artists need to go through before publishing or releasing a song.
“Naniniwala ako na kailangan din natin ‘yun ilagay sa spotlight. Kailangan din ‘yun makita at marinig ng mga tao para malaman nila kung ano talaga ‘yung pinagdaraanan ng isang artist [and everyone involved] para lang ma-release yung mga songs na pinapakinggan nila.”
“Para hopefully, they have more appreciation for these songs na they are listening to.”
Aside from local artists, Behind The Song podcasts also feature international and K-pop artists.
New podcast episodes will be released every Tuesday, and the full interview will be available on GMA Network’s social media pages every Thursday.
