On November 4, Star Magic Head Lauren Dyogi, alongside ABS-CBN Music head Roxy Liquigan and creative director Jonathan Manalo, revealed why they chose AC Bonifacio as the perfect artist to launch Star Magic Records.
During the media conference for Star Magic Records’ launch, Dyogi highlighted Bonifacio’s international exposure as one of the reasons why they wanted her to launch the sub-label.
“It’s a fact that she’s very talented. She’s known as a world class dancer. Globally, she’s exposed herself sa Ellen DeGeneres, mayroon siyang show sa Riverdale. So, ang daming niya ng exposure that attested sa galing niyang sumayaw.
“But more than that, so going through the prism, mayroon pa siyang ibang aspeto na pwede natin talagang makita. So this time, she will not only dance, but she will be a total performer. The same that she’s committed to excel in dancing, she’s committed to excel in performing. This is only the start of our plans to make AC an international star.”
Liquigan admitted that he has always wanted to work with Bonifacio as an artist, noting that “she’s a perfect star.”
“To be honest, ang tagal-tagal ko ng gustong makatrabaho si AC Bonifacio because when I saw her, my God, sabi ko talaga. Malalaman mo, shining star bata pa lang siya. But you know, hindi namin siya nakatrabaho because she was with another label pa.
“Sabi ko, timing lang naman siguro. And, noong sinabi ko na she will be the first artist for Star Magic Records, sabi ko perfect! She’s a perfect star para sa launching ng Star Magic Records because she’s very talented, she’s very charming. She has this well-rounded personality and is an all-out performer.”
Manalo lauded Bonifacio’s talent in singing and noted that she’s ripe for international stardom.
“Perfect talaga na si AC ‘yung magiging debut artist ng Star Magic Records kasi she’s the total performer. She’s not just a dancer. Pag narinig ninyo talaga ‘yung recording ni AC, she’s a very, very talented singer too. Hindi lang siya–makikita niyo ‘yung character. The way she sings, the way she delivers the lyrics napakahusay na bata.
“At ang gusto ko kay AC, she’s very talented but at the same time hindi siya complacent. Sobra siyang passionate, she’s out there to prove herself, and makikita mo ‘yung gutom. Gutom to prove the talent that she have.
“Gustong gusto ko ‘yun when working with an artist na nakikita ko ‘yung passion and the fire. Lahat ‘yun nakikita kay AC. Sobrang akong excited for her and I know she’s ripe for international Superstardom.”
Bonifacio made her mark as a powerhouse of a dancer along with Lucky Ancheta in Dance Kids in 2016. Her stint in the Filipino TV show got her featured in the Ellen DeGeneres show. Then, in 2020 the Filipina-Canadian amazed her fans when she appeared in the fifth season of Riverdale.
Star Magic Records recently launched Bonifacio as their first artist with the single ‘Fool No Mo’ on November 4. Bonifacio’s single is available for streaming worldwide on digital platforms.
