Willie Revillame recalled his conversation with ABS-CBN executive Carlo Katigbak regarding John Lloyd Cruz’s transfer to the GMA Network.
Cruz had a recent guest appearance on Wowowin, where the TV host Willie Revillame welcomed him.
“Welcome sa Wowowin at welcome sa bago mong tahanan of course, dito sa GMA 7, welcome,” said Revillame.
Cruz then thanked the TV host for paving his way back to the GMA network.
“Kung hindi dahil sa ‘yo, hindi lalakas ang loob ko, kung hindi dahil kay direk Bobot (Mortiz), hindi mabubuo ‘yung kumpiyansa na bumalik.
“Kung hindi dahil sa pamilyang nabuo namin nina direk Bobot, di ba, hindi mabubuo ‘yung nag-udyok sa akin na bumalik at magtrabaho ulit,” he said.
Cruz officially signed with the Kapuso network on November 2021.
His first appearance in the Kapuso network was in June 2021 where he was a guest in GMA’s 6.6 Shope Super Mega Fiesta, where Revillame welcomed the actor.
Cruz’s transfer to the Kapuso network was no easy feat as Revillame said he had to personally talk to ABS-CBN executive Carlo Katigbak for Cruz’s guest appearance on GMA.
“I’m thankful to Mr. Karlo Katigbak dahil pinagpaalam kita, naalala mo? Siyempre, ‘yung respect natin sa kanila, na sabi ko, magiging guest ka sa Shopee, and then, okay naman. In fairness to Mr. Karlo Katigbak, napaka-gentleman.
“Kaya Karlo Katigbak, Sir, maraming salamat, now he’s part of… dito na, magkasama na kami, with of course, your permission,” Revillame said.
John Lloyd Cruz will begin work on a Mortiz-helmed sitcom titled Happy Together. On November 9, he also signed a big contract under the GMA Network.
Happy Together cast includes Carmi Martin, Jayson Gainza, Miles Ocampo, and Janus Prado. The sitcom will be Cruz’s comeback sitcom since his four-year television hiatus.
