Posting double-digit ratings each episode and with an estimated 13 million viewers glued to their screens every night, Lolong is 2022’s most watched TV show in the Philippines.

Since its TV debut last July, viewers of all ages can’t get enough of the action-packed yet values-laiden series bannered by Kapuso Action-Drama Prince Ruru Madrid.

Based on Nielsen Philippines’ TAM data from January 1 to August 14, 2022, GMA Network’s biggest adventure-serye recorded a combined average people rating of 15.6 percent (GMA and GTV) in Total Philippines to secure the top spot.

Kapuso programs 24 Oras, Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, First Lady, Happy Together, The World Between Us, Magpakailanman, Bolera, I Left My Heart in Sorsogon, and Jose & Maria’s Bonggang Villa completed the list of the top ten most watched programs in Total Philippines during the said period. FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, which recently aired its finale episode, was at the 11th spot.

And there’s no stopping Lolong from dominating Philippine TV. From August 15 to 19 alone, Lolong recorded a combined (GMA and GTV) average number of more than 13 million viewers per episode in Total Philippines.

The show also continues to post record-high numbers, hitting a combined (GMA and GTV) people rating of 18 percent

percent in National Urban TV Audience Measurement overnight ratings last Tuesday (August 23). And just last Wednesday (August 24), Lolong tallied its highest rating to date with a combined people rating of 18.3 percent. Its rival show, Darna, only managed a combined people rating of 9.7 and 9.4 percent for the said dates (TV5, A2Z, Kapamilya Channel, and Cinemo).

On top of its impressive TV presence, ‘Lolong’ has become a household name, with Filipinos here and abroad being able to relate to Ruru’s character. Viewers praised the show for promoting values on family, friendship, and the environment. Kids are looking up to Lolong as the hero they can emulate.

Outside the small screen, Lolong has been drawing crowds in various Kapuso Mall Shows and festivals around the Philippines. Its popular crocodile character, Dakila, has been visiting key cities in Mega Manila and select provinces in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao–much to the delight of Lolong fans.

A tale of a man’s extraordinary friendship with a giant crocodile named Dakila, Lolong is produced by the award-winning team of GMA Public Affairs. The show’s powerhouse cast includes Shaira Diaz, Arra San Agustin, Christopher de Leon, Jean Garcia, Bembol Roco, Malou de Guzman, Rochelle Pangilinan, Paul Salas, Marco Alcaraz, Mikoy Morales, and Maui Taylor.

As the show entered a new chapter this August, viewers were able to meet new characters portrayed by Vin Abrenica, Thea Tolentino, Alma Concepcion, Rafael Rosell, and Lucho Ayala.

The history of the Atubaws further unfolds and more secrets are unraveled every night. The battle between the Atubaw and the Bansons has ignited. Will Lolong be able to save his people? Whose life will be lost next?

Directed by Rommel Penesa and Conrado Peru, the crocodile-themed drama series stemmed from the idea of award-winning broadcast journalist and GMA News pillar Jessica Soho and Assistant Vice President for GMA Public Affairs LJ Castel.

Catch Lolong weeknights on GMA Telebabad, 8PM after 24 Oras and 9:40 PM on GTV. Kapuso abroad can catch it as well via GMA Pinoy TV. For more stories about the Kapuso Network, visit www.GMAnetwork.com.
