Is Julia Barretto bound for GMA Network?

On September 10, Viva star Julia Barretto will appear in Eat Bulaga’s Bawal ang Judgmental segment as a celebrity player, which prompted questions about her possibility to transfer to GMA Network.

Barretto’s guesting is a part of her promotional campaign for her upcoming movie with Carlo Aquino, Expensive Candy, which opens in cinemas on September 14.

Speculations about Barretto working more with GMA Network stemmed from other Kapamilya artists such as Xian Lim, Marco Gumabao, and Lyca Gairanod, who also signed with Viva Artist Agency after being with ABS-CBN.

GMA Pictures and Viva Films recently signed a joint venture agreement in April 2022.

Barreto signed with Viva Artist Agency in January 2022, making it possible for the star to work with the Kapuso Network.

On September 5, Expensive Candy, directed by Jason Paul Laxamana, had its premiere night at the Cinema 3 of The Block at SM North Edsa.

Barretto started her career in ABS-CBN in 2007 with Walang Kapalit. She then starred in the afternoon teleserye Mirabella in 2014. Her breakout roles are in the movie Vince & Kath & James and Love You to the Stars and Back.

Her first project after signing with Viva is the movie Bahay na Pula. She then starred in the Vivamax series The Seniors.
