Kapamilya host-comedian Vice Ganda addressed bashers who often belittle his successful movies.
During the Wednesday, September 28 episode of It’s Showtime, a supposed joke time between the hosts Vice Ganda, Ogie, Kim and Karylle turned serious when the topic of Vice Ganda’s movies was brought up.
It started when Vice noticed the facial expression of one of Ms. Q and A contestants. Vice then compared it to his facial expression in his debut film Petrang Kabayo with a matching sample.
“Papunta na siya kay Petrang Kabayo, yung nagta-transform na.Ganyan ako doon sa pelikula eh,” Vice commented.
He then shared that they did not employ CGI effects on his transformation scene from human to a horse which made it more difficult, thus asking critics not to mock his films.
“Walang effects ‘yun noong ginawa ko ‘yung Petrang Kabayo. Laki ng kinita ng Viva doon. Box-office ‘yun, walang effects,” saad ni Vice.
“Kaya hindi n’yo pwedeng puchu-puchuin at minimenus ang pelikula ko na parang walang kakwenta-kwenta ang pelikula ko. Pinaghirapan namin [‘yun].
“Nahirapan ako doon. Ako ang gumawa noon. Sige nga tignan ko kung kaya n’yong gawin. Nilalait n’yo ang pelikula ko, ang hirap-hirap non,” Vice said.
Meanwhile, following his rant, he realized that he shouldn’t have re-enacted his facial expression cause it might be used as social media memes again.
“Nagkaka-anxiety ako… Bigla kong napag-isip, I just realized. Oh my God! I shouldn’t have done that.
“Kakalat na naman online… Paganda ako nang paganda pero ‘yung mga kumakalat na picture ko ‘yung mga sasaksakan ng pangit kong picture.”
Vice Ganda’s stardom started with his film Petrang Kabayo which raked more than 115 million pesos in box office earnings.
He then starred in successive record-breaking box office movies, which include the 2016 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry Super Parental Guardians, which is currently the number 4 highest-grossing film of all time with 598 million pesos box office earnings.
Aside from successful movies, Vice also continues to be an unkabogable TV host doing the Kapamilya noontime show It’s Showtime and the weekly community game show Everybody Sing, which is now in its second season.
Vice is also set to star in another MMFF movie this 2022 alongside Ivana Alawi titled Partners in Crime and directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina.
