On January 18, senior actor Simon Ibarra revealed the secret behind his staying power and longevity in showbiz.
At the media conference for the Darna Super Soldiers, which LionhearTV covered, Ibarra attributed his success in showbiz to his ability to deliver on his roles.
“Nakikita siguro nila na nakakapag-deliver naman kahit papaano. Sa mga bossing ko po pala, salamat po sa inyo. Si Ma’am JRB, salamat din sa inyo.”
He gave a bit of advice to younger actors about valuing the people they work with on set.
“So siguro ang masasabi ko kaya– ano lang, pagbutihin mo lang ‘yung trabaho mo, pagbutihan mo lang ‘yung pakikisama sa katrabaho mo, at makikita naman ng mga taong nakapaligid sayo na kung nakakapag-deliver ka ng trabaho or not. Kung kaya mo, siguro pagtitiwalaan ka pa lalo ng mga bossing natin.”
He also added that younger actors should embrace the roles they receive.
“Sa mga character actor na mas bata sa akin, ‘yun lang siguro, i-embrace ninyo ‘yung character. Pag-aralan ninyo ‘yung character, and then lalabas ‘yan ng natural kasi gusto mo ‘yung ginagawa mo. Kapag ginagawa mo ‘yung gusto mo, hindi ka nagtra-trabaho.”
He then detailed his continuous flow of projects amid the pandemic.
“Ang tawag ko nga sa sarili ko, pandemic baby ako ng industriya, kasi the whole COVID fiasco, lagi akong may trabaho. Ang Sa Iyo’y Akin, tapos FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, tapos dito Darna.”
He thanked the people who believed in him as an actor.
“Unang-una siyempre, magpasalamat ako sa Panginoong Diyos no, dahil binibigyan ako ng ganitong biyaya at siyempre sa mga boss natin at kay Tita Kara, na magtitiwala sila sa akin, sila Tita Cory, sila sir Carlo Katigbak, sila sir Lauren Dyogi.”
The action fantasy series stars Jane De Leon, Janella Salvador, Joshua Garcia, and Zaijian Jaranilla.
The supporting cast features Paolo Gumabao, Kim Rodriguez, Eric Fructuoso, Dawn Chang, Ibarra, Mark Manicad, Young JV, Joshua Colet, and Richard Quan.
