On March 23, celebrity couple Jan Marini and Gerard Pizzaras highlighted how God helped them overcome challenges in their marriage.
At the media conference for CBN Asia’s much-anticipated Holy Week special, Tanikala, which LionhearTV attended, Marini attested how their faith helped them reconcile her and Pizzaras’ differences as a married couple.
“Salamat sa Panginoon for giving us the grace to live this married life together na talagang kami ay you know I’m just so amazed how the Lord works.
“The challenges, naging part na ‘yan ng aming 23 years because we are you know, just like any other normal couple, we have personal differences, ‘yung character differences namin is isa sa mga malaking factor kung bakit talagang I would say na-polish ng husto ‘yung aming samahan. Na-test ‘yung aming pagsasama sa isang bubong.
“We are very, very different from each other. As you can see, Gerard is very serious, basta magkaiba ‘yung personalities namin.”
She also cited how their commitment to each other to abiding by the Bible helped their relationship.
“Kasi kami, ang naging commitment namin to each other is that we will be /committed/ to make this work because we adhere to what the Bible says and /because we/ love God. We are committing to this marriage because /committed/ to please the Lord above anyone else. So, it’s only by his grace that this is /possible,/ and that we are looking forward to more years together.”
Pizzaras echoed Marini’s comments about their commitment to God and to their marriage.
“Nagkataon lang na medyo na we started at right foot. Ang ibig kong sabihin is nagpakasal kami believing that there’s a higher being, na we are committed to. Hindi lang bawat–ang commitment namin ay hindi lang sa bawat isa, ang commitment namin ay, there’s a witness, and that is God, and that’s where we put our words. Papakasalan ko siya and then aalagaan ko siya hanggang mamatay ako. Sinabi ko ‘yun sa aking Panginoon, hindi sa contrata.”
He also noted how they respected each other’s role in their relationship and family.
“Unang-una nagbabasa ako ng Bible, nagbabasa rin siya ng Bible, inaalam namin ang roles ng isang lalaki, ano ang roles ng isang babae, kasi kapag nag-mix ‘yung roles, hindi magwo-work, kung pareho kayong dominante, kailangan mayroon mag-susubmit, ‘yung babae. Kailangan naman mayroon magmamahal ng todo-todo, ‘yun naman ‘yung lalaki.
“Noong nagpakasal kami, 23-years old lang ako, wala akong alam sa buhay na pamilyado, so paano ko ginawan ng paraan, nagbibili po ako ng libro, how to be a leader, how to be a man, kasi ang alam ko lang po na lalaki, ‘yung suntukan tayo sa labas. ‘Yun lang ‘yung alam kong lalaki, hindi pwedeng ganon ‘yung pagkalalaki ko sa loob ng marriage.”
As for their upcoming CBN Asia Specials, Tanikala presents Senior Moment and Kampihan for their Holy Week offering.
Senior Moment stars Carla Martinez and Mari Kaimo, with Hutch Perales and Arcy Morfe.
As for Marini and Pizzaras, they join the cast of Kampihan with Angel Guardian, Neo Rivera, Carlos Canlas, CJ de Guzman, and Ellene Cubelo.
Senior Moment was under the direction of John Valdes Tan, while Icko Gonzalez directed Kampihan.
Senior Moment airs on Maundy Thursday, April 6, while Kampihan airs on Good Friday, April 7, at 5:00 PM on GMA Network.
