Shangri-La Plaza, a longtime supporter of arts and culture, is presenting the Unbreakable Trilogy—which underlines how art can draw out deep emotions, make a strong stand on issues, champion the minority, and capture humanity at its best—at the East Atrium in early May.
This trilogy features a unique set of artists at every exhibition. Running until May 10, Mom, I Do Not Want War showcases images of war through the eyes of children. Presented by the Embassy of Poland and Ukraine, this exhibit displays historical drawings of children’s experiences in World War II and the German occupation of 1939-1945 that have been preserved in the Central Archives of Modern Records (AAN) in Warsaw in the Ministry of Education complex from 1945-1966.
It also features contemporary drawings of children who are affected by the current war in Ukraine. The exhibit aims to show that war always looks the same through the eyes of an innocent child—it’s cruel and violent. It underscores how children will always be the victim of war no matter where and when it happens.
Flowers for You, Mom in partnership with Vico’s Artism Gallery that’s on display until May 14 is an art exhibit by persons with autism, ranging from 7-31 years old. The talented artists explore the theme of flowers and deliver a beautiful and thought-provoking collection that inspires and captivates. Coinciding with Mother’s Day, it’s also meant to celebrate the special women in the lives of the artists who champion them and their amazing gift. Purchasing artwork and products at this exhibit is also highly encouraged as this allows the artists to support themselves and grow their creative careers.
Unbreakable: A Photo Exhibit completes the trilogy and runs until May 14, exactly on Mother’s Day—and aptly so, as it presents the beauty of motherhood. It’s an exhibit that features Zone V Camera Club members as they celebrate the 45th anniversary of this premier Filipino photography organization. Photographers joining the showcase are Angela Panlilio, Arlene Donaire, Armi Yam, Bern Wong, Billy Palatino, Cynthia Pagdilao, David Lim, James Singlador, Jeff Dytuco, and Michael Olivares.
