In an interview on April 27, up-and-coming singer Vilmark Viray shared about the emotional journey behind his latest single, Lisan.
“I wrote this song during the first night ng burol ni Papa,” Viray shared.
The singer-songwriter went on to explain that while working on Lisan, he felt guided by his late father’s presence.
“For this song, for this single, parang tinuruan ako ni Papa na mabigay yung right lyrics and notes, para mabuo yung song.”
What’s even more surprising is that Viray composed the entire song in less than an hour.
“Nasulat ko yung song in less than an hour. Kung ano yung nasulat ko at that time, yun yung pinakita ko to my producer,” he revealed.
Viray also expressed his excitement for listeners to appreciate the song.
“I really poured out my heart to this song, and I’m really excited for them to appreciate the song.”
The singer also shed light on the making of the music video, which was shot in Tagaytay. However, he kept a personal detail hidden from the GMA Music team.
“Hindi ko rin naman sinabi sa kanila na ganun yung nangyari sa akin sa Tagaytay,” Viray admitted.
The location of the shoot held a deeper significance for him as it was the same spot close to the hotel where his father tragically passed away.
Despite his reservations, Viray pushed himself to return to Tagaytay for the shoot. “Hindi pa rin po ako ganun ka confident bumalik ng Tagaytay, pero since doon naman na nagawa yung performance shoot, kaya naman na.”
Lisan, the heartfelt single by Vilmark Viray, produced by GMA Music, is now available online.
