We may know Matt Lozano as “Big Bert” in GMA Network’s ‘Voltes V: Legacy’ but the 30-year-old actor is also a singer. During the press conference on the 19th of May, Matt Lozano shared with us how he revels in fulfilling both his passion for singing and acting.
The 30-year-old actor started out in showbiz in the late 2000s as a teen hopeful. In 2016, he joined and won the ‘Eat Bulaga!’ talent contest ‘Spogify’ ft. Singing Baes.
Matt Lozano has now released three singles under GMA Music, including his latest, ‘Liham’ which according to the actor/songwriter/singer, was written in just 15 minutes and is inspired by his personal experience.
He shared, “Napakasarap sa pakiramdam actually na ginagawa ko yung dalawang passion ko which is yung acting and also song writing, lalo na kapag nagsusulat ka dahil ito ang nagiging outlet ko sa mga emosyon na nararamdaman ko.”
For Lozano, balancing two creative passions has been delightful; acting as his profession and music as his hobby.
With his latest release, ‘Liham’ he revealed, “This is my first time na mag-come up ng ganitong genre, actually ‘Liham’ inspired sya sa mga gen z opm nating ngayon, yung first and second single ko may pagka John Mayer-ish, dahil siya ang main influence ko, yung creativity ko nagagamit ko siya sa music.”
Juggling acting and songwriting might seem daunting, but for Lozano, it’s a breeze. He confidently stated, “Ginagawa ko naman yung part ko kapag nasa taping ako para kapag meron akong freetime at kapag may lumabas sa akin, sinusulat ko naman agad.”
As for his future musical endeavors, Lozano shared a glimpse of his aspirations. “Kung gagawa ako ng sarili kong album, huwag na tayo lumayo don sa mga hugot na kanta, but sa album na ‘yon gusto ko may isa akong special song na very hopeful, gusto ko naman maiparamdam sa mga tao kung paano maging okay.”
