Behind the popular character Big Bert in GMA Network’s “Voltes V: Legacy,” Matt Lozano has once again taken the spotlight, this time as a budding music artist.
Lozano’s latest release, “Liham,” marks a departure from his previous works under GMA Music, which were heavily influenced by his musical idol, John Mayer. This time, he delves into the heart-wrenching realm of hugot soft-rock, a genre adored by many young listeners.
“This is my first time na mag-come up ng ganitong genre, actually “Liham” inspired sya sa mga gen z opm natin ngayon, yung first and second single ko may pagka John Mayer-ish, dahil siya ang main influence ko, yung creativity ko nagagamit ko siya sa music,” revealed Matt during the press conference last May 19.
However, what sets “Liham” apart from Lozano’s previous musical endeavors is the deeply personal nature of the song.
“Wala naman akong pinagdedicate-an ng kantang ito, galing siya sa personal experience ko, this song is very personal to me kaya sobrang bilis ko lang siyang nasulat,” the 30-year-old actor-singer confessed, “This is the first time na kung ano yung pinaka-peak nung emotion ko na yun sinubukan ko lang magsulat then masarap sa pakiramdam kasi nabuhos ko na lahat don sa kanta.”
Juggling his acting and songwriting career seems to come effortlessly to Lozano.
“Napaka-dali lang naman niya pagsabayin (referring to his acting and songwriting career) kasi ginagawa ko naman yung part ko kapag nasa taping ako para kapag meron akong free time at kapag may lumabas sa akin sinusulat ko naman agad,” he explained.
