Kapuso actor Paolo Contis faced intense backlash from netizens following his debut as one of the new hosts of Eat Bulaga!
On Monday, June 5, Contis, along with Buboy Villar, Betong Sumaya, and other Sparkle Artists, was introduced as the fresh lineup of hosts for TAPE Inc.’s Eat Bulaga!
This transition occurred after the unexpected departure of the show’s original hosts, Tito, Vic, and Joey, from their long-time producer, TAPE Inc.
However, the new hosts received a wave of criticism from viewers, particularly loyal Dabarkads, who expressed their frustrations towards Contis.
A multitude of netizens vehemently voiced their disapproval, primarily focusing on Contis’ controversial romantic relationships.

Meanwhile, in a statement aired on 24 Oras on June 5, Contis addressed the issue and clarified that their intention was not to replace TVJ. He appealed to viewers to give them a chance, highlighting that they were simply fulfilling their job after being called by TAPE management.
“We are incredibly honored to have been chosen to continue the show. I want to clarify that we had no plans of replacing or taking the place of Tito, Vic, and Joey. We had no chance of doing that.
“We were simply called to work and carry on the show because the TAPE office wanted to continue providing prizes and daily joy.
“I hope you give us a chance because, at the end of the day, we were called to help people and bring happiness. How can you say no to that?”
