The PPOP Convention Manila this year brought together some of the PPOP industry’s biggest and most promising acts.

The modern age of Pinoy Pop has been undoubtedly given rise to by the idol-inspired craze that took inspiration from the likes of KPOP, JPOP, and other similar music trends. Now, a few years since the likes of MNL48 and SB19, we have seen the dawn of what turned out to be the next big chapter of Original Pilipino Music (OPM): the rise of local idol groups.

With more and more acts joining the trend, it became necessary that an annual gathering of these talented young idols should be held. Enter PPOP Convention, the annual gathering of PPOP fans and the PPOP acts they idolize. The resounding success of its first year ensured that PPOP Con would continue providing a platform for fans and idols alike, to converge at one momentous event. Last July 16, that convergence point was the SMART Araneta Coliseum.

From the three-day convention to the concert itself, PPOP Con Manila 2023 did not only replicate last year’s event’s accomplishment; it achieved more. With more than two dozens of fresh and established acts that graced the convention and the concert, it can now be told that PPOP Con is the largest gathering of PPOP fans and stars in the country.

Some acts who headlined last year’s show, including BGYO, ALAMAT, 1st One, and MNL48, made sure they delivered the same, if not greater impact this year. Debuting acts like BILIB, Yes My Love, and 6ense also graced the 3-day event.

Making up the majority of the Araneta crowd, SB19’s zealous fans called A’Tin filled the entire Big Dome with ecstatic and energizing screams and chants. The fandoms of other groups were not to be missed, as they similarly gave their best to support their idols.

Having delivered a solid three-day show and a truly remarkable finale concert, PPOP Con Manila 2023 was an event like no other. It simply deserves to be repeated in the many years to come.
