Former member of the SexBomb Dancers Izzy Trazona-Aragon has faced a backlash from netizens, media professionals, and vloggers for her refusal to accept her child Andrei Trazona or Sofia’s identity as a drag artist, sparking controversy on social media.
Responding to Izzy’s Facebook post in which she expressed her disapproval of her child’s drag artist persona, prominent talent manager, content creator, and TV host Ogie Diaz shared his perspective.
Ogie questioned.
He also accused Izzy of being hypocritical, saying, “I think, mas kasalanan sa Diyos ‘yang kaipokritahan mo. Tinanggap mo nu’ng una, tapos ngayon, babawiin mo? Laban-laban, bawi-bawi?
“Anong gusto mo? Maging barakong pulitiko ‘yung anak mo, pero corrupt?” he concluded, adding a laughing out loud emoji.
Meanwhile, Andrei or Sofia admitted that they had initially lied in an interview, claiming that their mother supported them and their endeavors as a drag artist. However, they decided to set the record straight because the truth eventually came out.
In their Instagram post, Andrei/Sofia wrote, “I LIED IN AN INTERVIEW that she supports for what I am and for what I do just to protect her from any backlash but there’s no point in protecting her because the truth came out straight from her…
“As much as I love you, you know that I don’t wanna live in a lie. I’m sustaining myself for years now and I am living responsibly honest. I’m tired of this conversation about me being gay and doing drag. I wanna end this argument by saying that “I wanna live my own truth and someday you will be proud of what I will become.”
“I love you so much mom but this isn’t healthy for me anymore. I hope someday you will understand how it feels to be in my shoes. I miss you but you’re not bringing me any comfort and compassion I deserve,” they further expressed.
The post received numerous shares and comments, with many offering their support and understanding to Andrei/Sofia.
One celebrity Aliya Parcs, even offered to be their new mother if needed. “Dear Drei, if you are looking for a new mom, I’m here for you with full support and acceptance. Be kind to yourself and to others. You can be whoever you are meant to be!”
Ogie Diaz’s perspective resonated with some, including author-comedian Marissa Sanchez Giorla, who agreed with him, “Tama ka dyan mare, sa puntong…na dapat sa una pa lang hindi na sya pumayag. #JustSaying.”
Comedian Wilma Dassent appreciated Ogie’s remarks and wrote, “Gusto ko ung last part!!!! Hahahahaha iba ka inay.”
Singer-actor-stylist Ricci Chan added his perspective, stating, “Yung mas pinaboran yung paniniwala bago yung anak — dun ako napangiwi ng severe mars. Paniniwala bago Ang tao. Grabe.”
The discussion highlights the complexity of family dynamics, acceptance, and the challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ individuals in seeking understanding and support from their loved ones.
