During a media roundtable held at Polyeast Records in Quezon City on October 19, Esang provided insights into the spontaneous creation of this track.
Describing her creative process, she revealed, “The process of making ‘Hold Me’ was purely spontaneous because usually, when I write songs, it’s random, like in the middle of the night or just at home.”
With a pop-rock sound, Esang captures a sense of teenage angst that resonates with her young audience. Notably, her songwriting has evolved, as she delves into the intricacies of her emotions.
She commented, “This song is very different from what I’ve done before. In the past, I was primarily involved in musicals, Broadway, and pop. But with ‘Hold Me,’ I have genuine intentions to explore various genres and diversify my songwriting.”
As Esang solidifies her place among the emerging generation of young artists, she approaches her rising career without being burdened by external pressures. Her focus remains on her true passion: singing.
Addressing the expectations and pressures that come with her burgeoning career, she stated, “I think when it comes to the pressure, realistically speaking, people may have expectations of me, based on what I used to be. But the situation here is different. I want to establish my identity and pursue what I’m genuinely passionate about.”
In 2022, Esang made her debut on PolyEast Records with her single, ‘Praising Hours,’ demonstrating her songwriting talent and a deep connection to poetry. Notably, the song received two nominations in the 36th Awit Awards for ‘Best Pop Recording’ and ‘Best Performance by a Female Recording Artist,’ underscoring her growing prominence in the music industry.
