Cebuano rock titans Urbandub cement their place in the ever-growing OPM landscape as they celebrate 20 years of activities as a band.
Formed in 2000, Urbandub is regarded as the “Giant Sound of the South” with its heavy, pedal-dependent riffs, heart-thumping beats, and lyrics that resonate with multiple generations of listeners.
To celebrate the band’s astonishing run, they have worked with Warner Music Philippines to bring their entire discography online. Last August, the band released their debut album “Birth” on digital streaming platforms. Along with the digital release is a reimagined version of the said album called “Rebirth.”
In an intimate press conference held in Cebu City, the band stated that “Rebirth” was their envisioned sound for the debut album when they started making music.
Fast forward to November 10, Urbandub’s critically-acclaimed sophomore album “Influence”- packed with hits such as “Soul Searching”, “Sailing”, and the award-winning track “A New Tattoo”, was released on digital streaming platforms.
Jett Galindo of Bakery LA breathed new life into the album by remastering all tracks, all in preparation for a vinyl release courtesy of Backspacer Records. The band will also hold a live show entitled “20 Years of Influence,” celebrating their success as a band.
The show will be on November 24, 2023 at 123 Block, Mandaluyong City. The show will also feature math rock group AOUI, and up-and-coming musician and wordsmith Totâ as supporting acts.
Regular tickets for the show are PHP 1000, and VIP Tickets are PHP 5000- including a commemorative shirt and a vinyl copy of the album. Tickets are available via Urbandub’s social media channels.
Twenty years in an ever-changing musical landscape is no easy feat, yet Urbandub made it so easy to withstand the tides of the scene. The support from their fans- collectively known as Dubistas, means a lot to them. Their music truly is like a new tattoo- they stay permanent in our hearts and minds for more Filipinos to listen and rock out to.
