Kapamilya actor-singer Darren Espanto openly discussed his romantic sentiments toward Jayda Avanzado and Kyline Alcantara while also fostering a friendship with Jillian Ward.
In an interview with Boy Abunda, Darren reflected on his past relationship with Kyline Alcantara, describing it as a “puppy love” experience that lasted about a year.
“Hindi ko po masagot ng yes or no eh, it was like a puppy love kind of thing … when we were younger in the past. Kasi nga, naging kami dati kaya binibiro kami ni Ate Vice (Ganda),” he remarked, alluding to Alcantara’s recent appearance on ‘It’s Showtime.’
When queried about the reasons behind the breakup, Darren admitted to encountering misunderstandings with the actress.
“There was some misunderstandings and then when we both matured parang 6 years later napag-usapan na namin and eventually we became okay with each other again, we became friends na ulit … Misunderstandings talaga siyempre kapag mga bata kaunting mga petty na mga away,” he elaborated.
Darren also disclosed his romantic inclinations towards Jayda Avanzado but opted to keep the specifics private.
“Jayda and I are still friends and I guess I’d like to keep private ‘yung things from the past. Opo, there definitely was but ‘yun lang ang sasabihin ko,” he shared.
When asked to characterize his relationship with Jillian Ward, Darren labeled it as “Getting to know you.”
“Nagulat po kaming dalawa kasi ‘di po namin in-expect … After that episode, I was surprised kasi siya pa nag-follow sa akin and I followed her back. We started talking kasi before we parted ways parang napag-usapan na sana one day we could do a collaboration kasi nagsama kami sa isang corporate event before and she can also sing,” Darren revealed.
“She asked if one day pwede akong mag-guest sa YouTube channel niya … I’m very open with the idea, …Friends lang. Getting to know each other kasi siyempre that’s the first time… nung launch ng (‘It’s Showtime’) sa GMA,” he added.
“Malay po natin, makapag-prod po kami sa ‘Showtime.’ She has this bright aura which is what I noticed right when I met her. She’s very shy until you get to know her.”
Furthermore, in 2020, Darren confirmed his past relationship with Andrea Brillantes, emphasizing their young age as the reason for parting ways amicably, unrelated to Kyle Echarri.
Despite his reticence about his romantic life, Darren acknowledged Ylona Garcia as one of his past loves but currently values their friendship.
Contrary to rumors, Darren denied any romantic involvement with Alexa Ilacad, considering her more as part of their friend circle.
Presently, Darren’s friendship with Cassy Legaspi is the subject of speculation, described by Darren as “best friends,” a sentiment Cassy concurred with in an interview, stating, “It’s so hard to explain what we have, pero best friends talaga kami.”
