After receiving significant backlash, the producers of the upcoming film ‘Dear Satan,’ starring Paolo Contis, have announced plans to change the movie’s title.
The decision comes in response to concerns from netizens who felt the original title could convey inappropriate messages, especially to children, and might portray Satan in a positive light, which contradicts religious teachings.
Mavx Productions, Inc., the company behind the film, issued a public apology on Friday, August 23, through a Facebook post. They acknowledged the concerns and clarified their intentions.
“It was never our intention to hurt or disrespect anyone’s religious beliefs. Our aim has always been to create content that entertains while conveying meaningful messages,” the statement from Mavx Productions read.
The producers explained that the concept of ‘Dear Satan’ was designed to explore the battle between good and evil, focusing on the story of an innocent child who, guided by faith and divine goodness, resists temptation and embodies righteousness.
“The film is a narrative about the power of faith and the triumph of good over evil. We wanted to illustrate that, despite the presence of evil in the world, faith and virtue can prevail,” the production team further explained.
In response to the public outcry, Mavx Productions decided to rename the film to better reflect its moral themes and to ensure it resonates positively with audiences.
“We believe this change will help align the film more closely with its moral core and ensure that it resonates positively with our audience,” the statement concluded.
The producers also encouraged the public to watch the film with an open mind and heart, emphasizing that the story’s message remains intact despite the title change.
