Zeppi Borromeo, Kei Kurosawa, and Carlo Aquino lit up the Star Magic Spotlight persscon as they discussed and promoted their highly anticipated film, ‘Crosspoint’.
The film is a Japanese-Pinoy production collaboration between High Road Creatives and Japan’s 034Productions, showcasing how Filipino stories can resonate with a global audience.
Carlo Aquino takes on a lead role alongside Emmy-nominated Japanese actor Takehiro Hira, renowned for his performance in Shogun.
Set mainly in Japan, Crosspoint follows Manuel Hidalgo (Carlo Aquino), a former Filipino celebrity now struggling to survive as an undocumented performer in a Tokyo pub. He meets Shigeru Yamaguchi (Takehiro Hira), a bankrupt construction company owner. Together, they join forces to catch a wanted serial killer, hoping the bounty will solve their financial woes.
“Talagang nakakaintimidate. Pero kapag sa eksena kasi, biglang nagbabago yung feel. Nagiging as Manuel na ako, siya as his character, so nawawala naman ‘yun (intimidation).” Carlo shared his experience working with Takehiro Hira.
Carlo shared his key take-away from the film: “Life will always be ‘life-ing’ kumbaga, kahit na ano ibato sa iyo na dagok, na punches, kailangan mo tumayo. Okay lang naman masaktan, okay lang naman umiyak, pero tumayo. Labanan mo.”
The film boasts an impressive supporting cast, including Kei Kurosawa, known for her role as Faye in ABS-CBN’s first YouTube series Zoomers. In Crosspoint, she portrays Mayuko Yamaguchi.
“I really don’t know how to explain how I felt kasi I get to represent both the Philippines and Japan, kaya it was a great opportunity. Talagang very special,” Kei said about being a part of the film.
Zeppi Borromeo takes on the role of Oliver in the movie. “As an actor, natutunan ko ‘yung patience is a virtue,” Zeppi said. “Nakakaproud na kahit cameo lang ako sa movie na ito ay kasama ako dito,” he shared regarding his role in the movie.
Directed by Donie Ordiales, Crosspoint features an international cast and crew that brought a compelling story to life. The film delivers a powerful message that nothing in life is permanent. Circumstances can change dramatically at any moment, and Crosspoint delves into the profound ways those changes occur.
Crosspoint will be released in cinemas nationwide on October 16, with a red carpet premiere on October 10 at Gateway Mall 2.
