Businessman Jam Ignacio made a quiet visit to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on February 21, 2025, days after his fiancée, DJ Jellie Aw, filed a domestic abuse complaint against him.
According to a GMA News report, Jam personally met with NBI Director Jaime Santiago and other agency officials regarding the case.
His visit came a day after he failed to appear before the NBI on February 20, where he was initially scheduled to provide a response to Jellie’s allegations.
During his NBI visit, Jam was informed that the agency would proceed with filing a complaint in court, allowing him to submit a counter-affidavit at the appropriate time.
His legal counsel, Atty. Oscar Karaan, previously stated that Jam had opted not to participate in the NBI hearing, explaining:
“We already sent a letter to the NBI that my client will no longer appear during the hearing to be conducted by the NBI.”
He added that Jam’s legal team is prepared to address the matter through the proper legal channels.
“The NBI can just refer the matter to the appropriate fiscal’s office with jurisdiction over the case, and then we’ll answer the case that will be filed against my client.”
Karaan also expressed hopes for an amicable resolution, stating: “My client is trying to mend things with his girlfriend to settle this out of court or through the fiscal’s office. Right now, they are being feasted on social media, and this doesn’t have to escalate further. This is something they can resolve privately.”
However, Jellie has rejected any possibility of reconciliation.
Following his visit to the NBI, Jam flew to Japan, as seen in his Instagram Stories on February 22.
He first posted a photo of an airplane wing, indicating he was in transit. Shortly after, he uploaded a picture of a train station on the Keihin-Tohoku Line, which connects the cities of Saitama, Kawaguchi, Tokyo, Kawasaki, and Yokohama.
Jam also shared images of ramen and gyoza, suggesting he was spending time in Japan.
Since his initial public apology to Jellie, Jam has yet to release any new statements regarding his legal case or travel abroad.
Despite Jam’s attempts to reach out, Jellie remains firm in her decision to call off their engagement.
“Wala na pong kasal na magaganap o matutuloy ‘yung mga napag-usapan namin dahil po sa nangyari,” she declared in an interview on February 21.
Jellie also dismissed Jam’s reasoning that he lost control due to frustration and exhaustion, stating:
“Hindi po puwedeng napuno lang siya, e.”
“Paano [na lang] po kapag pinagbigyan ko pa siya ng second chance, paano kung napuno po siya sa akin ulit, gagawin po niya ulit ‘yon, mas grabe pa?”
She also gave an update on her recovery from the injuries caused by the alleged abuse: “I’m getting better. Kung makikita niyo, may pasa pa ako sa mata at yung ngipin ko, basag pa rin.”
However, she confirmed she has a scheduled dental procedure to fix her damaged tooth: “Pero naka-schedule na po ako sa dentist ko sa Tuesday kaya magagawa na po siya.”
On her overall healing progress, she added: “Ang labi ko, okay na po siya. Tuyo na ang sugat.”
