Asia’s Longest-Running Drama Anthology ‘Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK)’ Returns to TV — How Did It Fare in the Ratings?

After more than two years off the air, ABS-CBN’s beloved drama anthology MMK made a surprise television comeback. According to Nielsen NUTAM People Ratings, the return was modestly received by its loyal audience.
Airing on Saturday, April 26, MMK garnered a 2.8% rating—6.5 percentage points behind its long-time rival ‘Magpakailanman’ on GMA, which scored 9.3%.
Given that MMK now airs on A2Z Channel 11, its lower rating is not unexpected. In fact, its finale episode on December 10, 2022, also aired on A2Z and posted a similarly modest 3.4% rating.
Despite its low television numbers, MMK’s return found a strong audience online. The comeback episode amassed over 204,000 concurrent live views on Kapamilya Online Live, showing that digital platforms remain a powerful draw for the show’s fanbase.
The premiere episode featured the life story of Tawag ng Tanghalan standout and The Voice US Season 26 Grand Champion Sofronio Vasquez. Elijah Canlas portrayed Sofronio, with Janice de Belen and Romnick Sarmenta playing his parents.
In addition to airing on A2Z, MMK is available via iWantTFC 48 hours ahead of its broadcast and is also shown on the Kapamilya Channel.
Following the Sofronio Vasquez episode, the anthology continued its new chapter with the life story of BINI member Sheena Catacutan featured in its second installment.
