Asia’s Nightingale Lani Misalucha is making her much-awaited return to the concert stage with ‘Still, Lani,’ a grand celebration of her 40th year in music and her remarkable journey of survival, resilience, and artistry.
The concert, slated for August 21 at The Theater at Solaire, marks Lani’s first major solo performance since battling bacterial meningitis in 2020, a life-threatening illness that left her and husband Noli partially deaf and dealing with vestibular disorders and tinnitus.
“Ang effect ng bacterial meningitis na ‘yun was deafness, vestibular disorder, at tinnitus,” Lani recounted during the concert’s media launch. “For a while, hindi ko talaga nakayanan kumanta. Nahihirapan akong makarinig — lahat ng naririnig ko ay matinis, masakit sa tenga. Nakaka-depress.”
The illness struck at the height of the pandemic, forcing the Las Vegas headliner into silence — not just from music, but from the world. “There was a time I didn’t want to move or talk to anyone. Parang depression na rin yata ‘yun,” she admitted. Yet even in the face of adversity, Lani clung to acceptance and gratitude. “Ito na ang binigay ng tadhana. Ang importante, buhay pa rin ako. Nakaka-function pa, kahit natutumba-tumba minsan.”
Despite the hearing loss, Lani assured fans that her voice remains in top form. “I had shows last April, and I realized… my voice is still there. Mataas pa rin. Hindi pa ako pinapabayaan ng Diyos.”
Still, Lani isn’t just a concert—it’s a victory lap. Produced by Backstage Entertainment, with direction by Calvin Neria and musical direction by Toma Cayabyab (son of National Artist Ryan Cayabyab), the concert will feature a majestic 40-piece orchestra and a carefully curated setlist of her greatest hits like ‘Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin,’ ‘Malaya Ka Na,’ ‘Ikaw Lang ang Mamahalin,’ and ‘You Don’t Own Me.’
Her four-decade legacy includes groundbreaking achievements such as becoming the first Asian headliner on the Las Vegas Strip in 2004 and sharing the stage or praise from icons like Gladys Knight, Dionne Warwick, Josh Groban, and the late Joseph Jackson. She was even voted Best Singer in the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s 27th Annual Best of Las Vegas Poll—alongside Celine Dion.
As for her dream collaborations? Lani still hopes to sing with Celine Dion or Barbra Streisand, two of her musical heroes.
Tickets are now available. This isn’t just a concert—it’s the return of a legend.
