Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera turned sentimental as she looked back on one of the most pivotal moments of her career—being cast as ‘Marimar’ 18 years ago.

On her official Facebook page, the actress shared a throwback clip from GMA News’ ‘Chika Minute,’ showing the emotional moment she learned she had been chosen for the iconic role.
In the video, a staff member handed her a letter from then-Kapuso executive Wilma Galvante, confirming her as the lead star in the highly anticipated Filipino adaptation of the hit Mexican telenovela.
Moved to tears upon reading the letter, Marian recalled how she had visited several churches to pray for the opportunity. “18 years ago, a dream came true when I was chosen to play the role of ‘Marimar,’” she wrote in the caption.
“So much has changed since then, and I have experienced countless blessings. Through every trial and experience in my journey, I’ve been strengthened by faith. I am forever grateful for everything, surrendering all to Him.”
She also quoted Psalm 32:8 from the Bible: “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.”
“Maraming salamat sa inyong pagmamahal at pagdadasal para sa akin at higit sa aking pamilya. Mahal ko kayo!” Marian added, thanking her fans for their unwavering support throughout the years.
‘Marimar’ not only became Marian’s breakout role but also marked her first on-screen partnership with Dingdong Dantes, which eventually blossomed into real-life romance and marriage. The series’ success catapulted her to stardom and opened the doors to more iconic roles in ‘Darna’, ‘Dyesebel’, ‘Amaya’, and ‘Endless Love’.
Eighteen years later, Marian continues to be one of the most beloved and influential actresses in the Philippine entertainment industry.
