A new dating platform, FilipinaMeet, officially launched in Makati City, positioning itself as a safer and more transparent alternative to traditional swipe-based dating apps.

During the grand launch, co-founder Samantha Acuña Cefali offered a candid critique of today’s digital dating culture.
In a country with one of the largest single populations in the world, she noted that online dating has increasingly become plagued by bots, fake profiles, scams, and what she described as “Tinder Warriors” who swipe without genuine intent.
Cefali emphasized that FilipinaMeet was created in response to these growing concerns. The platform implements stricter profile verification processes to ensure that users are real individuals and to minimize fraudulent activity. The founders aim to provide a premium and secure space where meaningful connections can flourish.
She pointed out that in 2026, there should no longer be stigma around using online dating platforms—unless they are being used for deception.
Cefali, a Filipina lawyer, co-founded the platform with her husband, Stephen Cefali, an AI software company owner. The couple, both previously based in the United States, met through a dating app themselves before eventually relocating to the Philippines.

While the mobile application is still in development, FilipinaMeet is currently accessible through its official website. The founders say their goal is to move beyond the swipe culture and focus instead on authentic stories, shared values, and intentional relationships.
