Kapuso actress Barbie Forteza recently revealed that her breakup with longtime partner Jak Roberto was not as painful as many expected, citing the healthy nature of their seven-year relationship as the reason for a smooth transition.

In a candid interview with actress-host Toni Gonzaga, Forteza shared that the process of healing was “masaya” and “smooth,” surprising even herself with how well she handled the situation.
“It wasn’t as painful as some people painted it to be,” Barbie admitted. “It’s not as painful. It wasn’t actually.”
According to her, the emotional ease of the breakup reflected the quality of their relationship. “It just goes to show how healthy the relationship was. Tiningnan namin siya as for the growth din talaga ng bawat isa,” she added.
Forteza also reflected on the valuable lessons she learned from their relationship, particularly the importance of self-love and personal space. “Kahit na may karelasyon ka, always make time for yourself. Always make time to spend it with yourself,” she shared, emphasizing that having time alone helps build one’s identity and encourages individual growth.
Now enjoying her single life, the ‘Maria Clara at Ibarra’ star said she’s taking time to focus on herself, her family, and her friends. Although recently linked to fellow Kapuso star Jameson Blake, Forteza clarified through previous interviews that they are just friends.
When asked about entertaining suitors, Barbie admitted she finds it challenging to distinguish between romantic interest and friendly gestures. “Nahihirapan ako kasi for the longest time, I was in a relationship,” she said. “So now that I’m single, I don’t know when someone is trying to show interest, or is genuinely being caring, or just after friendship.”
“Is that flirting? Please excuse me, but I cannot tell. They should be direct, otherwise, I would not be able to understand those subtleties,” she added.
Despite their breakup, Barbie and Jak were spotted together at GMA Network’s 75th anniversary celebration last June, sparking interest among fans. In a previous statement, Barbie said she prefers not to speak about the breakup in public out of respect for both of them.
