A celebration of creativity, collaboration, and environmental responsibility unfolded at LOLA Café Broadway as Mondelēz International Philippines, together with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources–Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB) and Save Philippine Seas, officially launched the fifth and final episode of the Miming and Friends sustainability series.

More than the premiere of a new episode, the event marked the culmination of a years-long initiative that has transformed environmental education into engaging, family-friendly entertainment.

@lionheartv Stories have the power to inspire change! 🌱 Mondelēz International, together with DENR-EMB, brings Miming Sustainability Talks to life, showing how simple stories can help us understand, care for, and protect our environment. Through the launch of Miming and Friends Episode 5, “The Greenhouse Monster Part 2,” we’re reminded that every small action counts in building a cleaner and greener future. Let’s keep sharing stories that inspire everyone to care for our planet! #MimingSustainabilityTalks #MimingAndFriends #MondelezInternational #LionhearTV #Rawrnation ♬ original sound – LIONHEARTV

The venue reflected the colorful spirit of the animated series, welcoming members of the media, educators, environmental advocates, and project partners into an atmosphere that balanced fun with purpose. Conversations before the program centered on the growing importance of sustainability, setting the stage for an event that would highlight how storytelling can inspire meaningful action.

The centerpiece of the gathering was the exclusive screening of “The Greenhouse Monster Part 2,” the concluding chapter of the environmental mini-series. Through its lovable characters and easy-to-follow narrative, the episode tackles pressing issues such as waste pollution, recycling, composting, and climate change, reminding viewers that protecting the environment begins with simple everyday choices.

Watching the finale with the people behind the project gave the screening a deeper significance. Every scene reflected years of collaboration among environmental organizations, educators, creatives, and corporate partners who shared one goal—to make sustainability easier for Filipino children and families to understand and embrace.

Another major highlight of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between Mondelēz International Philippines and DENR-EMB, reinforcing their shared commitment to expanding environmental education across the country. The partnership strengthens efforts to promote responsible waste management while encouraging more communities to adopt sustainable practices through accessible learning initiatives.

Throughout the presentations, speakers emphasized that meaningful environmental change does not always begin with large-scale programs. Instead, they encouraged families to practice simple habits such as proper waste segregation, recycling, composting, and reducing plastic waste—small actions that, when multiplied across communities, can create lasting environmental impact.

The event also celebrated the remarkable growth of Miming and Friends. Since launching its sustainability series, the locally produced YouTube channel has grown into a trusted educational platform with more than 121,000 subscribers, reaching classrooms, environmental organizations, government agencies, and households nationwide. Its success demonstrates the growing influence of Filipino-made educational content in promoting awareness among younger audiences.

Representatives from Save Philippine Seas also shared how animation has become an effective tool for communicating scientific concepts in ways that children can easily appreciate. By combining relatable storytelling with practical environmental lessons, the series has helped bridge the gap between education and everyday action.

As the afternoon drew to a close, the event left attendees with more than the memory of a successful episode launch. It served as a reminder that meaningful environmental advocacy flourishes when government agencies, private organizations, civil society, and creative communities work together toward a common purpose.

With the completion of its five-part sustainability series, Miming and Friends leaves behind a legacy that extends beyond the screen. (with reports from Shania Haluber)
