GMA Integrated News solidified its position as the country’s top news source, with its extensive multi-platform coverage of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) last July 28 commanding a significant lead over all competitors.
The “State of the Nation Address 2025: A GMA Integrated News Special Coverage,” anchored by award-winning broadcast journalists Pia Arcangel and Atom Araullo, and simulcast on GMA and GTV, recorded a combined people rating of 4.7 percent (equivalent to 3.4 million viewers) in Total Philippines (combined Urban and Rural). This figure, based on Nielsen TV Audience Measurement overnight data for July 28, 2025, stands in stark contrast to TV5/RPTV’s “Estado ng Bansa SONA 2025,” which garnered a combined people rating of 1.5 percent, and A2Z/Kapamilya Channel’s “State of the Nation Address 2025: The ABS-CBN News Special Coverage,” which received only 0.6 percent.
In Urban Philippines, GMA’s SONA 2025 coverage further cemented its lead with a combined GMA/GTV people rating of 4.8 percent (2.1 million viewers). This significantly surpassed TV5/RPTV’s “Estado ng Bansa SONA 2025” (1.7 percent) and A2Z/Kapamilya Channel’s “State of the Nation Address 2025: The ABS-CBN News Special Coverage” (0.5 percent).
Online, GMA Integrated News led all competitors in video views for its SONA 2025 coverage. It amassed a total of 16.1 million views across Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok, according to the data from Tubular Labs as of July 29 – almost threefold than that of its closest competitor, ABS-CBN News, which had 4.7 million views.
