For rising star JC Alcantara, starring alongside Barbie Forteza in GMA Pictures’ upcoming horror film ‘P77’ is nothing short of a dream come true.
During the movie’s press conference, JC couldn’t hide his excitement and admiration for the Kapuso actress, sharing that he has been a fan since childhood.
“Isang karangalan makatrabaho si Barbie,” he said. “I’m a fan since 2011. Bata pa lang ako, pinapanood ko na siya. Kaya sobrang grateful ako na ako ‘yung napili. Sa dami ng artista, ako ‘yung nabigyan ng chance. Thank you talaga.”
JC takes on the role of Theo, a mysterious young man living in the eerie boarding house P77, where Barbie’s character Luna arrives for work.
“Marami kayong aabangan dito sa character ko, sa lahat ng character dito kasi kami ni Direk ang family dito hanggang sa ma-meet ko si Barbie Forteza,” he teased, referring to director Carlos Siguion-Reyna.
Admitting he was initially nervous, JC shared how Barbie’s warmth and professionalism helped ease his anxiety on set.
“Sobrang saya katrabaho si Barbie,” he said. “Sobrang bait. Makikita mo dedikado siya sa trabaho niya. Nagbabasa siya ng script, nando’n lang siya sa gilid. Ang saya palang katrabaho niya. Ang warm lang, lahat ng nasa paligid talagang bibigyan niya ng pansin kaya ang saya. Sana hindi pa ‘to ‘yung last.”
When asked about his approach to playing Theo, JC said he wanted to fully embody the suspense and thrill the genre demands.
“Kailangan hindi ka magpatalo ng kaba kasi horror ‘to,” he explained. “So kailangan, matakot ko pa rin siya. Kailangang maparamdam ko pa rin sa kanya na nandito ako sa character na ito.”
‘P77’ opens in cinemas nationwide on July 30, promising a haunting story and an exciting new team-up in JC Alcantara and Barbie Forteza.
