Newly launched Star Magic artist Joaquin Arce couldn’t hide his surprise after receiving public support from no less than his stepmother, screen icon Angel Locsin.
In an interview following his official launch as one of the newest Kapamilya stars, Joaquin recalled how stunned he was when Angel broke her long social media silence just to repost his Star Magic launch video.
“My God, nagulat talaga ako,” Joaquin admitted. “Actually, hindi sinabi sa akin na ilalabas na ‘yung launch post ko. I was just scrolling on my Instagram sa kotse and then biglang nakita ko, nag-pop up, story ni Tita Angel. Ang nasabi ko na lang is, ‘What?’ Ako rin nabigla, na-surprise.”
He added, “She broke her silence for so long, especially on Instagram just to repost my launch post. I’m so grateful to her. Even if, kahit stepmom ko siya, fan din ako.”
Angel’s message on Instagram was heartfelt: “Me, your mom, and your dad are very proud of you ❤️ can’t wait to work with you.”
When asked what he wanted to say to his stepmom, Joaquin responded, “I hope I’m living up to your standards.”
Though uncertain if they’ll work together anytime soon, Joaquin expressed his excitement over the possibility: “Well, right now, I can’t say for sure if we’ll end up working on a project together. But maybe, if I act well enough, I’ll earn the right to be on her level. Baka magkaroon ako ng karapatang makatrabaho si Tita Angel.”
Asked about what genre he would like to explore if ever they collaborate, Joaquin answered, “Based on her career and the projects she’s done, it would probably be action. But again, I’m open to anything.”
The rising actor also shared that he recently completed his first acting project, which is expected to premiere soon.
Joaquin is the son of director-producer Neil Arce and stepson of Angel Locsin.
