‘Pilipinas Got Talent’ Season 7 Grand Champion Cardong Trumpo couldn’t hide his surprise and gratitude after receiving an unexpected gift from no less than Asia’s Superstar, Kathryn Bernardo — a brand-new TV set delivered straight to his home in Dasmariñas, Cavite.
Despite the heavy rain and flooding caused by recent storms, Kathryn made sure her gift reached Ricardo Cadavero — known to many as Mang Cardo — just days after she treated him and his family to a grocery shopping spree and café meal.
In a Facebook post, the humbled performer expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Kapamilya superstar: “Maraming salamat sa iyo Ma’am Kathryn Bernardo, na ipinaglaban mo ako na makapasok sa semi finals. Kung hindi sa iyo Ma’am Kathryn, walang Cardong Trumpo na Grand Winner ng PGT7. Maraming salamat ulit ma’am. Ingat palagi. God bless you po.”
This comes after Kathryn publicly supported Cardong during the ‘PGT’ competition, even advocating for his entry into the semifinals. She later invited the Cadavero family to shop with her at a high-end supermarket and bond over a meal with her and her mother, Min Bernardo.
Netizens were quick to praise Kathryn for her kindness and generosity, calling her an “angel in disguise” and commending her humility despite her superstar status.
While Kathryn has kept quiet about the gesture on her own social media — save for a few photos shared during their grocery bonding — those who know her say this is far from new.
A former colleague who previously worked with Kathryn and Mommy Min said: “Tahimik lang si Kathryn pero napakarami niyang tinutulungan. Ibang klase talaga.”
