It was a double victory for GMA Network comedy shows at the 37th PMPC Star Awards for Television, as Bubble Gang talents Chariz Solomon and Paolo Contis bagged the Best Comedy Actress and Best Comedy Actor awards, respectively.
Chariz, who also stars in ‘Pepito Manaloto’ and the vodcast ‘Your Honor’, turned emotional in her acceptance speech as she reflected on the struggles and importance of comedy today.
“It’s really a hard time for comedy and TV now, pero lalaban tayo. Kasi, kami po hindi na namin tinitingnan kung ano ‘yung makukuha namin, we just work, because we love our jobs. We work for our families, it makes us happy to make people happy. And that’s what we need right now in the world,” she said.
On Instagram, the actress-comedienne further expressed her joy and gratitude to the PMPC for recognizing her work.
“Masayang, masayang, masaya. Salamat Lord. Mabuhay kayo PMPC, sa walang sawa ninyong pagbibigay-parangal sa aming mga aktor!” she wrote.

She also dedicated her win to supporters of Philippine entertainment and her comedy programs: “Congratulations to all the nominees and winners of the 37th PMPC Star Awards for TV. Sa lahat po ng patuloy na sumusuporta sa Philippine Entertainment, sa Bubble Gang, Your Honor, at Pepito Manaloto—dahil po ito sa inyo, at para po ito sa inyo!!! Salamat po sa pagmamahal niyo!!!”
This marks another milestone in Chariz’s comedy career. She previously won Best Comedy Supporting Actress for her role in the series ‘Jejemom’ (2010) at the Enpress Golden Screen TV Awards back in 2011.
