Even before their upcoming series ‘I Love You Since 1892’ premieres, fans have already started speculating about the chemistry between Heaven Peralejo and Jerome Ponce, with some suggesting the two look good together both on and off screen.
When asked if she easily develops feelings for her leading man, Heaven was quick to dismiss the idea.
“Hindi po ako ganun! Hindi naman ako gumawa ng proyekto para maghanap ng lovelife?” she said during the grand media conference.
Jerome, for his part, explained his perspective as an actor and co-star.
“Bilang lalaki rin kasi kapag ikaw ba ipareha ka sa isang babae. Kasi team kayo eh kahit papaano, gagampanan mo ‘yung role mo bilang leading man. Part din siyempre, gusto ko ring alagaan ‘yung mga kasama ko,” he shared.
Based on the Wattpad novel by Binibining Mia, which has garnered over 132 million reads since 2016, ‘I Love You Since 1892’ tells the story of Carmela (Heaven), a spoiled brat from the present day who stumbles upon a mysterious diary. The diary transports her back to 1892, where she discovers she is the spitting image of her ancestor, Carmelita Montecarlos.
In the past, Carmela must stop Carmelita’s wedding to Juanito (Jerome) in order to save his life and return to her own time. But things get complicated when Carmela starts falling in love with Juanito, whose future is already mapped out by his prominent family.
The love triangle deepens with the return of Leandro (Joseph Marco), Carmelita’s first love, who comes back from Cuba with the hope of winning her back and preventing the union of Juanito and Carmelita.
The series also features a powerhouse ensemble, including Christian Vasquez, Maricel Morales, Louise delos Reyes, Anna Luna, Soliman Cruz, Andrea del Rosario, Christopher Roxas, Christine Bermas, and Suzette Ranillo as Madre Olivia, who becomes Carmela’s guide in the past.
