Kapuso actress Yasmien Kurdi made a heartfelt and sustainable fashion statement at the GMA Gala 2025 by wearing an upcycled version of her iconic red gown from ‘StarStruck’ Season 1’s Judgment Night, 21 years ago.
Sharing her nostalgic look on social media, Yasmien wrote, “Do you remember this gown? This is the very same gown I wore during StarStruck’s Judgement Night 21 years ago! You might even catch a glimpse of it in the opening and closing scenes of GMA’s Station ID on TV.”
The original gown, designed by JC Buendia, was lovingly “redesigned” for the event, marking GMA Network’s 75th anniversary. For Yasmien, the moment was a symbolic tribute to the network that changed her life.
“For GMA’s 75th Anniversary, I wanted to do something meaningful, a quiet tribute to everything this network has given me. That’s why I went back to the one and only Sir JC Buendia to have this gown upcycled,” she said.
Despite being two decades old, the gown was in excellent condition—proof of the designer’s craftsmanship and Yasmien’s deep sentimental care.
“Akala ko forever na siya sa cabinet ko. Magagamit ko pala ulit,” she added.
She also credited her stylist Gabby Wu for pulling off the last-minute look and highlighted the deeper message behind her fashion choice.
“Sustainable fashion is more important than ever, so I had this special gown upcycled by the talented Sir JC Buendia. It’s a beautiful reminder that we can honor the past while embracing the future without compromising style or the planet.”
Yasmien also emphasized how fashion can support environmental consciousness by promoting longevity and reuse.
“Cheers to timeless fashion and a sustainable future,” she captioned another post.

The ‘StarStruck’ alumna—who was crowned First Princess in the show’s debut season—walked the GMA Gala’s blue carpet not only with grace but also with a meaningful message: honoring one’s roots can be as elegant as it is eco-conscious.
Yasmien is married to Rey Soldevilla and is a proud mom to daughters Ayesha and Raya.
