Actor and television host Edu Manzano once again took aim at corruption in government projects, this time tying it to the victory of tennis star Alex Eala.

On Sunday, Sept. 7, Manzano posted an art card on Instagram featuring Eala holding her trophy from the WTA Guadalajara 125 Open with the caption: “Alex Eala shows the world what a Filipino can achieve.”
Beside her photo was a meme of himself, his clothes plastered with receipts, with the caption: “Eng. Edu shows the world where Filipino taxes disappear.”
“Congratulations, Alex Eala!” Manzano wrote, while using the post to lampoon alleged anomalies in multi-billion-peso flood control projects.
The 69-year-old actor has gone viral in recent days for his sharp-witted memes skewering contractors and so-called “nepo babies” flaunting luxury lifestyles online.
Among his earlier posts were an AI-generated image of him with Vin Diesel in a car floating through a flood, with the caption suggesting he was a “contractor scouting where to bid,” and another declaring: “Second day at work… pero abot na hanggang second life ang budget ko. HERMES MUNA BAGO SEMENTO.”
In another satirical jab, he unveiled the “University of Contractors” where, according to his post: “May diploma ka na, may kickback ka pa. Graduate in 4 years… ROI in 4 weeks.”
He also poked fun at his upcoming milestone birthday, quipping: “Turning 70 in a few days pero fit, still on fire, may dumbbell, may rower… at may payong pang-cover ng corruption, este ulan.”
His posts have resonated with netizens, drawing massive engagement and shares across platforms. Actress Ellen Adarna was among those who reposted his memes, further amplifying his satirical take on corruption.
Manzano’s comedic jabs come as the government faces scrutiny over revelations that a handful of contractors cornered nearly 20 percent of the ₱545-billion flood control budget in recent years, many of which are suspected to be ghost or substandard projects.
