Kapuso Drama King Dennis Trillo took to social media with a biting joke that quickly caught the attention of netizens, subtly calling out the persistent corruption in the country.

On Friday, October 24, the award-winning actor posted on Facebook: “Done na po magbayad ng tax nung isang araw. Pwede niyo nang nakawin ulit.”
While the statement was made in jest, many took it as a sharp commentary on the ongoing issues of government corruption — particularly following recent controversies involving the lack of completed public projects.
The post instantly went viral, garnering thousands of reactions and sparking a wave of witty yet frustrated comments from fellow Filipinos online.
Among the top responses were: “DPWH: noted.” “The motto: BIR is our silent business partner.” “Naku naman idol, binusog mo na naman ang mga senador at contractor!” “Thank you. – from a Nepo baby.” “No need to remind po, matic yan sila.” “Salamat daw po sir Dennis Trillo, may pang wagyu at pang Birkin na po mga nepo babies natin.”
The post came amid growing public anger over reports that the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed only 22 out of its 1,700 classroom targets last year — a figure confirmed by Secretary Vince Dizon in a recent Senate hearing.
Meanwhile, Dennis recently marked a major milestone in his acting career after bagging the Best Actor award at the 48th Gawad Urian earlier this month for his performance in Green Bones.
Sharing his triumph on Instagram, Dennis posted a photo of himself holding the trophy with the caption: “Mas masarap talaga sa pakiramdam, lalo na’t pinaghirapan at nakuha sa patas na paraan!”
The post was filled with congratulatory messages from his fellow Kapuso stars including Dingdong Dantes, Ruru Madrid, Royce Cabrera, and Rocco Nacino. Aside from Trillo’s win, ‘Green Bones’ also took home the award for Best Production Design.
The Gawad Urian Awards — established in 1976 by the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino — remains one of the country’s most prestigious film honors, recognizing artistic excellence and integrity in Filipino cinema.
