Kapamilya star and ‘It’s Showtime’ host Kim Chiu has reportedly undergone egg cell preservation, according to entertainment insider Ogie Diaz in the latest episode of his YouTube vlog ‘Showbiz Updates’.
Diaz shared that, based on information from his source, the actress chose to have her eggs preserved — a move that has become increasingly common among celebrities who want to prioritize their careers or personal goals before starting a family.
“Siyempre si Kim Chiu gusto muna niyang i-savor ang kanyang kasikatan, ‘ika nga,” said Ogie. “Ang kanyang youth, gusto niyang samantalahin dahil hindi naman sa lahat ng pagkakataon, e ikaw ay nando’n sa top.”
He added that at 35 years old, Kim is simply taking a practical step for her future.
“Diyos ko, hindi na bumabata ‘yan. ‘Yong mga ganyan, hit and miss ‘yan kung mabubuntis o hindi. Ngayon, normal lang ‘yong magpa-preserve ng egg si Kim Chiu,” Ogie explained, noting that the process helps women secure their fertility options later in life.
His co-host Mama Loi agreed, saying more showbiz personalities have been choosing to freeze their eggs in recent years.
“Normal na talaga ngayon ‘yan. Kumbaga, gusto ng iba na i-maximize muna ang kanilang youth at potential,” Mama Loi said, naming Vina Morales and Heart Evangelista as among those who have reportedly undergone the same procedure.
Egg cell preservation, medically known as oocyte cryopreservation, involves extracting a woman’s unfertilized eggs and freezing them for potential future use. The process allows women to delay pregnancy for career, medical, or personal reasons while maintaining the quality of their eggs.
While Kim has yet to confirm or deny the report, Ogie emphasized that if true, her decision reflects empowerment and foresight.
“Kung totoo man ito, ha, normal lang naman. Practical move ‘yan,” he said.
