Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda moved viewers in the latest episode of ‘It’s Showtime’ on Friday, October 24, when he opened up about a personal experience of helping a public school in the province of Kapuso star Heart Evangelista.

During the ‘Laro, Laro, Pick’ segment, a contestant shared their struggle to send their children to school — prompting Vice to recall a trip he made to Heart’s hometown, where he encountered a deeply moving situation.
“May pinuntahan akong lugar do’n sa probinsiya nina Heart Evangelista, na isang paaralan na walang reading materials. Pinagawa ko ’yong eskwelahan,” Vice shared.
“Nagpadala ako ng tulong do’n kasi walang reading materials. Bulok ’yong paaralan do’n sa lugar nina Heart Evangelista. I cried so much when I saw that school,” he added.
Vice then appealed to authorities and the public to prioritize education by improving learning facilities nationwide:
“Ayusin natin ’yung mga paaralan. Tulungan natin ’yung mga magulang na mapag-aral ang mga anak nila.”
The comedian’s statement came just days after DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon revealed that only 22 out of 1,700 planned classrooms were completed this year — sparking public outrage and renewed calls for transparency in government infrastructure projects.

The clip quickly went viral, with netizens speculating whether Vice’s mention of “Heart Evangelista’s province” was merely contextual — or a subtle jab.
Sorsogon, the province Vice referred to, is the home of Heart Evangelista’s husband, Senator Chiz Escudero, who previously served as governor.
While some social media users interpreted the comment as political shade toward Heart, others defended Vice, saying his intention was clearly to highlight the urgent need for educational reform rather than to criticize anyone personally.
One viral comment read: “She has money to splurge on branded and expensive items but is oblivious to the needs of the marginalized sector in her province?”
Others countered that Vice’s story only underscored his compassion and advocacy: “Walang halong politika ’yan. Vice is just shedding light on how bad the situation of our schools really is.”
