Kim Chiu couldn’t hold back her emotions as she faced the press during the media conference of her upcoming Prime Video series ‘The Alibi’ — her most daring role yet.
The ‘It’s Showtime’ host and award-winning actress admitted that taking on the role of Stella, a seductive escort entangled in a dangerous web of lies, has been both a challenge and a revelation for her as an actress and as a woman.

“Siguro naman as a 35-year-old woman, tapos na tayo sa 16-year-old role, na pa-teeny-teeny,” Kim said, smiling through tears. “Pero parang pag tina-track ko ‘yung journey ko sa industriyang ito, parang nahati ko na siya sa teens, 20s, at ano pa kaya ang ipapakita ko sa aking 30s? Sabi ko, it’s my skin!”
While the crowd laughed at her lighthearted remark, Kim grew emotional, wiping tears as she spoke about the trust given to her by Dreamscape Entertainment, the show’s producer.
“Hala, nakakaiyak! Hala, bakit ako naiiyak?” she said, laughing in between sobs. “Pero gusto ko lang magpakita ng bago. At sa mga nagsasabi na hindi ako marunong sa mga ganitong klaseng role, heto na ‘yon. I want to prove them wrong — that I can do more than what they know.”
In ‘The Alibi’, Kim stars opposite Paulo Avelino as Vincent, a powerful heir who becomes the prime suspect in a murder case. To protect himself, he hires Stella (Kim) to act as his “alibi” — unaware that she has her own motives for revenge.
The series, which premieres November 7 on Prime Video, is a mystery-romance filled with secrets, betrayal, and seduction.
Kim revealed that filming the series was emotionally and physically taxing, especially given the intimacy and sensitivity of her scenes.
“Mahirap gawin. Pero malaking tulong si Paulo dahil nakita ko ‘yung respeto niya sa akin. At ‘yung mga directors namin, pati cameramen, inaalagaan talaga ‘yung shots,” she shared.
Despite its sensual tone, Kim stressed that ‘The Alibi’ is not just about revealing skin.
“Ang ganda ng launching ng body ko, ha! Thank you so much!” she quipped, before adding more seriously: “But more than the skin, it’s what’s inside me, and what I want to show to my supporters. Kung magkakaroon man ng mga bagong supporters, maraming salamat.”
Many fans and industry observers have praised Kim’s courage to evolve, comparing her bold transformation to that of Vilma Santos, who also broke out of her “sweet” image with daring, career-defining performances in her youth.

Produced by Dreamscape Entertainment and directed by Onat Diaz, Jojo Saguin, and FM Reyes, The Alibi also stars John Arcilla, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Sofia Andres, Irma Adlawan, Rafael Rosell, and Romnick Sarmenta among others.
The series will stream exclusively on Prime Video starting November 7, with new episodes every Friday across more than 240 countries and territories.
As Kim put it best: “This is me — braver, freer, and ready to show a different side of myself.”
