Actor Jaime Yllana, one of the cast members of the upcoming Viva One series ‘My Husband Is a Mafia Boss’, publicly apologized for the controversial remarks made by his father, Anjo Yllana, against his former ‘Eat Bulaga!’ colleagues.

Jaime addressed the issue during the cast reveal media conference for ‘My Husband Is a Mafia Boss’, held at Viva Café in Quezon City on Thursday night, January 8, 2026. The event introduced the Wattpad-to-screen adaptation headlined by Joseph Marco and Rhen Escaño.
Questions about Anjo Yllana were inevitable, following the veteran actor’s viral online tirades in late 2025 targeting his former ‘Eat Bulaga!’ co-workers. On December 1, 2025, Anjo announced that he would stop speaking publicly about the issue, which eventually led to a slowdown in online backlash.
Speaking to the entertainment press, Jaime expressed remorse over his father’s statements while stressing his position as a son.
“Yung tatay ko kasi, at the end of the day, he’s my dad. Sa bahay, tatay ko talaga siya, so nakikita ko talaga yung pinagdadaanan niya,” Jaime said. “Alam ko naman, pasensiya po sa lahat, na may nagagawa siyang mali at naiintindihan ko naman na ganoon talaga.”
Jaime emphasized that despite the controversy, Anjo remains his father, whom he loves and respects.
“Wala, tatay ko siya. Mahal ko siya kaya kailangan kong intindihin na ganoon siya. Bigyan siya ng advice,” he said.
“Kahit anong maling gawin ng tatay ko, kailangan kong matutong pagbigyan siya. Siyempre, siya yung nagpalaki sa akin. I wouldn’t be here without him.”
The young actor also described his relationship with his father as close and candid, likening it to that of siblings or best friends, which allows him to speak honestly with Anjo.
“Honestly, parang magkapatid kami. Para kaming mag-bestfriend,” Jaime shared. “Sinasabi ko lang sa kanya na, ‘Alam mo minsan sa buhay, kailangan i-keep private.’ Like siyempre, artista tayo or in the spotlight, but some things need to be in private.”
In a separate interview with other entertainment outlets, Jaime said he believes his father took the advice to heart.
“Naintindihan naman niya noong sinabi ko sa kanya na some things need to be kept private. Doon siya nagbago, tinigil na niya,” he said.
Addressing reports that Anjo could potentially face legal complaints over his remarks, Jaime clarified that his father must take responsibility for his own actions.
“Well, I’m not my dad. Personally, as a son, I would feel bad for him,” he said. “But I hope he gets to arrange everything accordingly. Deep down inside, he thinks what he’s doing is right, that is to defend people. Pero he just didn’t deliver it the right way.”
Jaime concluded by expressing confidence that his father would own up to his mistakes and improve moving forward.
“He’s gonna own up to his own mistakes. Ganun naman siyang tao—alam niyang mali siya, he’s gonna be better,” he said.
‘My Husband Is a Mafia Boss’, based on the popular Wattpad novel by the late author Yanalovesyouu, is set to stream on Viva One and marks one of Jaime Yllana’s notable projects as he continues to build his acting career.
