Actress and former beauty queen Melanie Marquez has come forward with allegations of abuse against her husband, Randy “Adam” Lawyer, revealing that she has asked the Bureau of Immigration to cancel his visa and place him on the immigration blacklist.
In an interview with Boy Abunda aired on January 5, Melanie confirmed that she formally wrote to the Bureau of Immigration on November 11, 2025 to request the cancellation of her husband’s visa, citing alleged verbal, emotional, financial, and mental abuse.
“I’ve been very patient,” Melanie said. “Nu’ng kinasal kami ni Adam, nag-mindset ako na gusto kong magtagal ang marriage namin. Pangarap ko talaga magkaroon ng pamilya. Pero along the way, marami na siyang… you know, I’m verbally abused. Iniinsulto niya ako emotionally, financially, and mentally.”
Melanie added that she endured the situation for years, believing in the marriage and hoping things would change.
During the interview, the actress recounted a disturbing incident in March 2022, when she claimed she was suddenly punched in the right ear by her husband while she was asleep.
“Natutulog ako, magkatabi kami. Akala ko napanaginipan ko lang na may sumuntok sa akin,” she recalled. “Pero naalingpungatan ako at nakita ko siyang nakatingin sa akin, tapos sinuntok niya ako.”
When she confronted him about the incident, Melanie said her husband claimed he was dreaming and did not know what happened. She immediately reported the incident to the police and sought medical attention.
“Ang finding, may damage nga sa eardrum ko,” she said, adding that she obtained a medical certificate to document her injury.
Following the incident, Melanie said she sought help from the barangay and secured a protective order that resulted in her husband being asked to leave their home.
“Hindi niya makalimutan ‘yon,” Melanie shared. “Parang siya pa ‘yung galit na pinaalis ko raw siya sa sarili niyang condo. Ayaw niyang i-recognize ‘yung accountability niya at behavior niya.”
Melanie also revealed that she suffered a miscarriage, which she linked to the physically demanding work she did while helping manage her husband’s farm in Utah.
“He convinced me that in Utah, women do farming,” she said. “Hindi ako nagreklamo. Gumigising ako ng alas-singko ng umaga para maghanda ng pagkain para sa parents niya, sa kanya, at sa mga anak ko, tapos nagtatrabaho ako sa farm. Doon ako nakunan.”
She explained that there were times she could not eat on time while working, which she believes contributed to the loss of her baby.
The actress further alleged that there was an incident where her husband pointed a gun at her during a dispute related to their business.
Melanie and Adam were married in 2000 and have two children together. As of this writing, there has been no public statement from Adam Lawyer regarding the allegations.
The Bureau of Immigration has also yet to confirm the status of Melanie’s request.
