Cristy Fermin thanks Bea Alonzo after cyber libel case withdrawn

Veteran entertainment columnist Cristy Fermin and her co-hosts expressed gratitude to actress Bea Alonzo after their camps reportedly reached an agreement, leading to the withdrawal of the cyber libel case filed against them.

In their showbiz vlog ‘Showbiz Now Na’, Fermin publicly thanked Alonzo following the settlement.

Fermin said.

The case stemmed from criminal complaints for cyber libel filed by Alonzo in 2024 before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office against Fermin, fellow columnist Ogie Diaz, and their respective online program co-hosts.

In July 2025, the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 93 issued an arrest warrant against Fermin in connection with the complaint. Bail was set at ₱48,000 each for Fermin and her vlog co-hosts Rommel Villamor and Wendell Alvarez.

Alonzo’s lawyer, Joey Garcia, earlier explained that the actress decided to pursue legal action due to alleged defamatory statements made against her.

“This is the very first time that Bea has pursued legal action despite her more than two decades in the entertainment industry,” Garcia said.

“She has endured all the defamatory and malicious statements against her character by these individuals in the past months or even years with silence, dignity, and grace. But there is always a limit — and now is the time for definitive legal action,” he added in a separate statement.

For her part, Fermin previously defended their work as part of their profession.

Hindi po maaaring paghiwalayin,” she said.

She also rejected claims that their programs were created to profit from Alonzo.
