On my first night at Plantation Bay Resort and Spa, I decided to try Mogambo Springs—and it turned out to be exactly the kind of experience I didn’t realize I needed.

From the moment I walked in, I was struck by how beautiful, serene, and well-maintained the place is. It feels completely separate from the rest of the resort, like stepping into another world. The staff were immediately warm and welcoming, explaining everything calmly and making sure I felt comfortable the entire time. That alone already helped me relax.
I booked a full body massage and chose medium pressure, which was just right—not painful, not too light, just enough to ease the tension I’d been carrying from a busy work week. The massage was incredibly soothing, and at some point, I even fell asleep and started snoring (yes, that relaxed). When the session ended, I felt refreshed, lighter, and deeply rested—the kind of feeling you rarely get after travel.
Mogambo Springs is more than just a spa. Designed to resemble an 18th-century Tokugawa Japanese village, the setting is immersive and thoughtfully done. There are waterfalls, mist, a gentle creek, and Japanese-inspired gardens with towering banyan trees and bamboo. Every detail—from the architecture to the decor inside the treatment rooms—adds to the calm, almost meditative atmosphere.
When you book a treatment, you also get access to several wellness facilities:
- Hot pools with Jacuzzi
- Infrared sauna
- Steam room
- Needle shower nook
- Cascading massage waterfalls
- Thalassic pool
I didn’t get to try all of them, but even just walking past these areas felt relaxing.
One thing worth noting: mobile phones are deposited before entering the massage area. I personally handed over my entire pouch, including my wallet and phones, and felt completely at ease. It’s a simple rule, but it really helps maintain the quiet and distraction-free environment.
What stood out most to me was how attentive and professional the staff were throughout the experience. Every interaction felt genuine and unhurried. The oil used during the massage smelled great, adding another layer to the overall relaxation. Nothing felt rushed, and every detail made me feel well taken care of.

Mogambo Springs is open daily from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM, and if you prefer more privacy, massage treatments can also be arranged inside your room (when checked in).
My experience at Mogambo Springs was deeply relaxing from start to finish. It’s the kind of place that encourages you to slow down, breathe, and truly rest. Without hesitation, I can say this is one of the best spa experiences in Cebu.
If I get the chance, I would absolutely visit again. For anyone looking for a peaceful escape and genuine relaxation, Mogambo Springs is worth every moment.
